PROJECT OVERVIEW

Prior to designing the cabin, I was required to complete extensive research of the site, the town the cabin is located In and a sound understanding of what Scandinavian Style is.  To view the level of detail, depth and research completed prior to designing the cabin refer to the below tabs:

CONCEPTUALISATION & IDEATION PHASE

During the concept phase, I enjoyed developing and creating many ideas and possible variations to a solution, this allowed the process of elimination to take its course and allowed me to develop the best possible layouts for the client.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

During the early stages of the project, I completed three different floor plan layouts with my educators to see what would be best suited to the clients wants and needs, I discussed the pros and cons of each layout. I wanted to make a simplistic layout that complemented the traditional Scandinavian architecture of movement in the floor plan.

COMPLETED PROJECT DOCUMENTATION

Once the layout was finalised for the final assessment, I was required to complete the following items as a document package:

MOOD BOARD

I wanted the mood board to evoke comfortable, earthy Scandinavian tones.

MATERIAL BOARD

Sustainable, ethically sourced materials were a strong design ethos throughout this project. I also wanted to capture the elements of texture and durability, which was a client requirement.
